What would you like to have in 2022 that you lacked in 2021?
It would be amazing to experience a new pregnancy again. We would also like to do more weekend trips in Sweden – explore the surroundings more, perhaps visit a spa or two. Spend quality time together in other places than home.

What days from 2021 will remain etched upon your memory?
Sadly really tough days, starting January 19, 22nd, 26th, February 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and then several months after that – all connected to losing Peanut. Also, the first weekend in May when she was buried, July 2nd when we moved to Norrköping and left Uppsala (which, compared to the other dates, was great!).

To not have to go through the crappy process of being laid off work.

High raised jeans, t-shirts (long and short ones), cozy sweaters, and sneakers. Also a bunch of cozy clothes since Iv’ve been home a lot.

People in the same/similar job or business area I’m in. So. Much. Fun. So many great souls with a passion for design/UX-design. A friend of our friend who got married in Germany. We road tripped together in Germany and had a blast! Also, we got to hang out with our producer director (nowadays our dear friend) from House Hunters International. Had so much fun!

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2017
Don’t waste your energy on some people who you’ll never get energy from (the same as last year and the year before that, and the year before that..hehe) and to get healthy and free will take its time BUT IT’S SO WORTH IT! By losing my job, I’ve realized how freaking awesome I am. Hehe. I mean, I’ve learned so much about laws, my rights, others’ rights/mistakes, what I can do, how easily I learn stuff, how good I am at writing stuff, explaining stuff, sharing my knowledge, and what strength I have inside of me! I can do whatever! BAAAAAM! Screw “jantelagen“!

Life happened

September 4, 2017

photo credit to Jeremy Trimnal – friend and photographer at Asheville Blog

Hey <3

Last time I posted anything here was our latest podcast episode on May 10th! To blog and record podcasts haven’t been my priority when I’ve needed to put all my energy into life in general. But you know what? It wasn’t anything I’d planned. It just happened. However, I’ve been working on trying to figure out how I want to live my life, and in doing that, I have simply lived. To leave the anorexia behind, focus on what was good for Lina, not the eating disorder. I’m not gonna excuse myself, because I’ve grown so much as a human being during these past months, and that’s freaking amazing. Since I haven’t updated anything here for a while, though, I thought we could do a little recap of each month and what I’ve been up to.

MAY

  • Liz and I road tripped, together with a new friends of ours, in Germany. Well, we flew to Berlin, rented a car and drove about three hours south from Berlin. Our friends were getting married and it was such a beautiful wedding ceremony in an old little church in the middle of the village where our friend grew up. I was also fortunate to be able to sing and play. The wedding reception was also so much fun! Another fun fact, it was also my birthday, so I got to celebrate the beginning of my 34th year out in the country, at a beautiful wedding, in Thüringen, Germany.
  • Back in Sweden, my wife surprised me with dinner out together with my brother, his wife, and a close friend of ours (who’s birthday is just about after mine).
  • I was working on myself a lot this month.
  • We celebrated our version of Memorial Weekend by having a picnic in the big park together with family and friends.
  • The lilacs were blooming, spreading their sweet scent all over town, and summer was on it’s way, along with my excitement.

JUNE

  • Celebrated June 6th (Sweden’s National Day), by drinking beer in some beautiful summer weather.
  • We decided to redo a little interior in our living room by selling our couch, and buying a new one. We are in love with the new look, and how much more spacious it all feels. Score us! (More photos to come!)
  • Was really sad and upset about a “friend” of mine. I tried. Was denied. Got tired, and broke up with the person. Still dealing with this in my heart and soul, because I feel like I never got the chance to really work it out with the person.
  • My cousin graduated from high school in Norrköping and we took the train down to be part of the celebrations.
  • Celebrated Midsummer out in the archipelago together with my wife. I’m still working on a little video, and one day it will be done. Just gotta finish another project first.

JULY

  • Ate endless amounts of strawberries because that’s my absolute favorite thing to eat. At. All. Times.
  • Counted down the beginning of my vacation by celebrating others’ vacations beginning by exploring a new bar in Uppsala with amazing cocktails. Plus an almost 360 degree view of Uppsala. Good stuff.
  • Vacation time which meant going to the States time!
  • Spent our first days in the States, in New York City, hanging out with my American cousin who was doing an internship there during the summer. Explored Upper East Side for the first time (Liz and I try to explore different areas each time we’re there).
  • Flew down to North Carolina and Asheville/Lake Junaluska/Waynesville area. Hung out with family and friends, and drank endless amounts of beer. Because that’s what you do there.

AUGUST

  • Flew back to Sweden, WITH MY IN-LAWS! Yes, that was huge since it was their first time in Sweden.
  • Started off in Uppsala with a lot of rest due to jetlag.
  • I started working again, but my first week I “worked from home”, from Norrköping, where we hung out with my parents and Liz’s parents, and toured around e v e r y w h e r e. So great to finally be able to hang out with both our parents in Sweden! They’ve seen each other several times, but in the States when my parents’ have traveled there. Now my parents’ got to host my parents-in-law. So great!
  • Went back to Uppsala and to work in the office. Decided to really work on being there, and not working from home. And as of today, I’ve been there every day three weeks straight. It’s a record. (FYI: I’m on sick leave, only working part time, and haven’t had the energy to work from the office around other people so many days in a row before now). Liz’s parents stayed at my brother’s place, since he and his wife were hiking in Spain, so after work, I hung out with them and toured around Uppsala. My parents came to town, and we all spent a day in Stockholm, toured in Uppsala, and just hung out together. Liz’s parents returned to the States after being in Sweden for three weeks. It’s been empty not having them around..
  • Our friend C from London, who also was our House Hunters International producer, came and stayed with us for a few days. We had so much time, visiting old film locations, eating good food, and drinking beer at Ångkvarn of course (we filmed there).
  • Ended August by going to an outdoor concert, sat on the first row, and listened to Helen Sjöholm and Tomas Andersson Wij <3.

It’s the beginning of September now, fall is creeping up on us, which I actually feel pretty pleased about. Last fall was awful so I have the feeling this is gonna be an amazing fall, way better then last year, with plenty of cozy nights together with friends and family! I also feel my creativity is increasing, so I’ll hopefully take care of that, and do some fun projects.

Starting from the bottom right!

9. Me at the beach in South Portland, Maine, USA.
I had this picture taken the other day and it made it to the top nine list, pretty cool! A day when Liz and I decided for a little photo session since the sunset was so nice.

Ocean love. An open sea feels like an open book, with endless possibilities, a connection to the world, and uniting love. The fresh air, the beautiful view, and the horizon touching both earth and sky. Love it.

8. Me with the New York City skyline.
This past summer when Liz and I spent a couple of days in NYC, we stayed at an awesome airbnb apartment in Williamsburg, and explored new areas in NY.

I freaking love NYC ❤️

7. Me sitting on the floor in our living room.
I decided to film my reaction of playing the classic Nintendo I just had gotten.

6. Phone with our podcast playing.
We took a picture of a phone on the desk, playing our latest podcast episode.

It’s podcast day + Episode 14 of the LIZ + LINA podcast is ready!! This week we’re highlighting some of our most memorable moments of the past year… tune in to hear about some of our experiences + what word we decide to use to describe 2016! // Find us on iTunes podcasts, Soundcloud and Acast!! // Link in profile!

5. Podcast and a heart made of tea lights.
We created a heart made out of tea lights in the honor of our friend who had passed away the day before we recorded the podcast. The episode was a tribute to him.

We’ve created a special LIZ+LINA podcast for Episode 10 this week – where we process some of the tough things in life and how life just isn’t fair. Tune in + pass it on // Find us on iTunes podcasts, Soundcloud and Acast!! // Link in profile!

4. Williamsburg bridge.
Again, a pic from this past summer when we walked around in Williamsburg and realized how beautiful the sky/sunset was, so we just had to capture it on camera as well.

From last night ??

3. Liz and I outside the City Hall in Norrköping.

On our 7th wedding anniversary, I posted a picture from when just just had gotten married, back in 2009.

We’ve been married 7 years today and we’re still going strong! Gaaah, I love her so much ❤ ((The picture above is taken on December 26th, 2009, right after we’d said yes ?))

2. Me drinking coffee
We were at the airport, heading to the States for 4 week vacation during summer. I needed coffee, and bought some ridiculous expensive AND crappy tasting coffee. However, I was happy about going to the States.

Just bought an expensive and disgusting coffee at the airport… ? But hey, I’m excited and happy anyway because we’re about to board our plane to NYC! ??✈️

1. Liz and I at Rockefeller Center
Again, we’re in NYC, but this time during the holiday season and we got to see all the Christmas lights, tree, skating rink, etc. It felt like I was in an American holiday movie. Checked one of the things off  of my bucket list: to experience NYC during Christmas time.

New York, together with my amazing wife ❤

Don’t waste your energy on some people who you’ll never get energy from (the same as last year and the year before that..hehe) and to get healthy and free will take its time. I am the only one who can change my life. I can get support from others, but the change will, at the end, depend on one person – me!

2015

December 31, 2015

What did you do in 2015 that you’d never done before?
Started working professionally as a Graphic Designer. Moved to Uppsala, Sweden, together with Liz, and we were toast madams at my brother’s wedding! Brewed our own beer, walked in the Pride Parade in Stockholm. I also met and spoke with my music talent inspiration, Helen Sjöholm!

Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I said I would make some for 2015 but keep them to myself, but decided not to do any. I’ve decided I don’t like resolutions. I don’t wanna get disappointed in myself for not reaching them. However, I will think through some wishes of changes in my life that I will work on during 2016.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, quite a few friends ♥.

Untitled

Did anyone close to you die?
No, thank goodness.

What countries did you visit?
I moved from the States to Sweden, but haven’t been in any other countries this year. My wife is applying for Swedish Citizenship, and had her passport sent in to the Immigration Office. We have it back now, even if the process is not done due to the situation in the world right now, with a lot of refugees. So that’s the reason we didn’t travel abroad any. Also, because of my sickness and the lack of money due to saving for an apartment here in Uppsala.

What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?
Better health, an apartment that we own here in Uppsala (or at least being way closer to buying one). I would like to travel some more too.

Untitled

What days from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Started the year with a trip to Washington DC with Liz and my parents who were in the States during the holidays. I showed them where I used to live back in 2003 and other places there. When we moved back to Sweden, and when we got the apartment we’re living in right now. It’s SO HARD to find a place here in this town! My brother’s wedding day! And when I was in Stockholm at the I Love Musical concert! It was MAGIC! Oh, also when Liz’s brother came to Sweden, the Pride Parade in Stockholm, and the summer days we spent exploring little gems at Söder in Stockholm.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
To start treatment and work towards getting more healthy.

Axis Walnut Longboard from Arbor Collective

What was the best thing(s) you bought?

Loved that show. Then headed to my sister’s place where all the kids were as well. For once, we were all gathered! We will do the every other year from now on and my whole family has timed this now. Happy Birthday, Liz!

September 24, 2015

Liz

Today, my friends, is not just a regular Thursday in September! It’s, according to me, the best person in the world’s, birthday! I thought, in the honor of her, to share some photos of her, us, and things that means a lot to her. Because, she’s my everything, today, and forever.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
LIZ

Collage Liz 1

She’s a girl who truly has a huge love for coffee, so she’s done a blog project, called “Forty Days of Fika” where she visited 40 different cafes in Asheville, NC and blogged about it, started her own fika group in the States, wrote about fika in a local paper, and just loves hanging out at various cafes, together with friends – new and old, family, and/or me. She also has a passion for meditation, yoga, spiritual guidance, etc. Something I admire her for, and something that’s so far from what I do. But that’s also why I love her so much. She does things that’s making her grow as a person, feel good about herself, and is such an inspiring, and interesting person, I think.

Summer

Liz also takes amazing pictures, and creates her own little projects, such taking pictures of skies/sunsets Another project of hers, is the music project, where she created monthly playlists started when she turned 40 last year. I wrote some about it here.

Even though we’re pretty different, there are so many things we enjoy doing together – traveling, brewing beer, exploring Stockholm together, walking in the Pride Parade together, meeting new people, watching TV-series/movies together, and the list can continue for an endless infinity.

I love you so much and I hope you enjoy your birthday to the fullest ♥

December 30, 2014

Let’s check out, through some questions and answers, what 2014 was like!

new-years

What did you do in 2014 that you’d never done before?
The majority of the things I did for the first time, were school related. Figure drawings. And I used a drawing pad on a regular basis. Modeled digital in 3D, and animated movies (3D and 2D). 2014 was a year full of school challenges where I faced and found myself in situations I wasn’t too familiar with, but that taught me a lot. I also visited Disney World in Florida and spent my 30th birthday in New York with Liz, my brother, and my cousin. Saw the musical Les Miserables on Broadway! Was my sister’s bridesmaid and jumped into a jam session here in Asheville.

wedding

Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t really make any. I will make some for 2015, but keep them for myself at the moment.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. Several friends ♥.

Did anyone close to you die?
No.

What countries did you visit?
Sweden and the States – not really an exciting year of travels (to different countries)…Guess this past year was just a regular everyday life-kind-of-year…but you gotta have those too, I guess.

What days from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Disney World in the beginning of 2014, it was an amazing trip. Our trip to NYC in May, the beach week with Liz’s family – loved it! My sister’s wedding, and when we decided to move back to Sweden.

Don’t waste your energy on some people who you’ll never get energy from.

1 year.

April 12, 2014

oneyearago

I will always remember April 12th, 2013. It was the day I was admitted to the hospital for a second time because of my eating disorder, Anorexia Nervosa. The professionals wanted to prevent me getting even deeper into the Anorexia again, since my goal was to move to the States, and start studying in August the same year. Just a few months away. This was my chance to get professional help 24/7 again, and I took it.

I stayed at the hospital for about 1.5 months that time, and all together I’ve been to the hospital for almost 5 months the past two springs (spring 2012 and 2013). The first time, May, 2012, was the worst, but more about that in another post.

oneyear

Every day was a fight, and in between meals/resting times, I entertained myself by solving hundreds of sudokos, did puzzles consisting of thousands of pieces, and watched TV-series… I had so many Anorexic thoughts though, and was stuck in a really sick way of living which forced me to cancel a trip to China, celebrate another birthday at the hospital, and miss the spring and early summer arrival, because I was too focused on sick things instead of seeing and being aware of the surroundings and life in general.

I would not been able to have gone through this whole process without some special people in my life – Liz, my amazing wife, supportive J & S at the clinic who totally believed in me and my dreams, M – an amazing nurse/massage therapist, and S – another amazing nurse! I’m so deeply thankful for all what you’ve done to me, in order to help myself recover ♥

Today, I’m thinking of how my life was only one year ago. It has been (and still is sometimes) a fight, but my life today is soooo different than just a year ago. I’m living in the States and studying New Media – a dream of mine, and the most important, I’m happy, and healthy.

I know several friends and people around me who still suffer pretty bad from an eating disorder, and I want you to all know; If I did it, you can do it! It’s a really hard road to take, but it’s so worth it. Don’t give up, keep fighting!

Sending you strength and happy thoughts ♥

December 31, 2013

I used some questions in my year summary of 2011, and thought it might be fun to use the same again. It was a few years ago, after all. For a short summary of 2013, it was a year full of sickness, preparations, paperwork, grieving, happiness, adventure, and business. It was a year that started with vacation in the United States. Then, it immediately got more difficult. I went back to Sweden, went through everyday treatment, lost my grandad, canceled an exiting trip to China, and was admitted to the hospital. At the same time it was tough, I also had some exciting stuff going on as well as I prepared for a big move, spent summer in the Swedish archipelago, and visited Stockholm. Life began again and was completely new as I made my move to the States, started studying at an American University (a dream come true!), celebrated Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and everyday in between, while at the same time studied at an intense level that I have never experienced before. But, it was amazing and it all feels so right. Now, I’m about to end the year, together with some friends, in Atlanta, Georgia. Gonna be so much fun! But, you know what I really want? I want to close out 2013 and begin focusing on the New Year… cause it’s gonna continue the fun and excitement!

Throwback Thursday

April 4, 2013

Let’s check back what I did, in the beginning of April, in 2012, 2011, 2010, and 2009.

2012
I had just been to Gothenburg with Liz where we visited our friend, drank Starbucks, and did some shopping in the cozy area named Haga. We rode the train back to Norrköping. I cheered the SoundHound app and wrote about different artists (for example: Irma, Caro Emerald, and Frida Amundsen) I’d found through the app. Felt pretty deep and wrote about that life is about finding the balance between black and white, and yet not living in the gray. I was getting pretty bad here and just a few weeks later I ended up in the hospital for some months; but before that, I celebrated Easter at my parents’ place together with some relatives.

2011
I had just start working within the social work branch and I remember this time as pretty intense since it was so much to learn and things to get into. But I loved it! As I wrote about yesterday, I started blogging at lier.se and I also enjoyed the sun shining into our apartment, but most of all, I was longing for the beach in North Carolina where we were going in the summer.

2010

It was a really intense spring when I was finishing school. Liz and I had gotten married just four months earlier (December 2009) and were now physically separated since I had to finish school, and Liz was finishing up her job in the States, before she moved to Sweden. She came to Sweden for about a week in the beginning of April, and I felt whole again. All I did was studying, finishing my final paper, and missing Liz.

books

2009
I was doing one semester of my education online so I could be where ever in the world a.k.a The States. Hehe. I was home alone during the days, studying, and in the afternoons/evenings, Liz and I went on adventures in the Asheville area. Love that city, and I’m so excited to be moving back there for many years! I was also counting down the days until our road trip to Florida and The Keys, which was one of the things on my bucket list.

Let’s see what 2012 will bring. I’m excited!
