Never forget September 11, 2001…

As a little love letter in motion digital format, I’ve put together a short video of our time in New York City this summer. Gaaah, love that freaking city so much. And when we’re at it, I would be deeply thankful if you would like to hit that subscribe button on our YouTube channel, liz+lina ♥ Thankyouthankyou

My debut on American TV!

February 2, 2017

Hey! Long time no see, but here I am. Gosh, once I really sit down and blog, I realize how much I actually miss it. Anyhow, as the title of this post says, today is the day. Liz and I are going to be on Home & Garden Television (HGTV) on the show called, House Hunters International. Yep, that’s right! The channel found Liz’s blog back in winter of 2015, but we weren’t ready to move to our own place then. However, HGTV told us that they still really wanted to film an episode with us, and that they would wait until we were actually gonna buy a home. Life happened and the time came for us to purchase a place, we contacted HGTV, and we filmed a day in Asheville, NC in the States this past summer, and then filmed four days here in Uppsala, Sweden. Intense days but so much fun!! The time has now come and it’s gonna air on TV TONIGHT in the States!!

So if you have HGTV, our episode, “Swinging Back to Sweden”, will be on at 10:30PM Eastern time.

You can read more about the episode here which will take you to the website of House Hunters International, and basically what you see down below.

Liz and I have, of course, a lot of footage from summer and fall, when we filmed, which we will post on our YouTube channel (which I’ve forgotten to mention on the blog yet, but in our latest podcast!). However, if you would like a little taste of it, you can watch the Casting Video we filmed. Even though the show hunted us, we still had to go through all the paperwork and process of being casted. Check out the casting video here below. Also, for future references, we will post, as I said earlier, more video footage later on, so hit the subscribe button on YouTube, and tag along on this TV adventure of ours!

Search liz+lina on YouTube or click on this direct link here in order to get to our channel.

A couple of American papers have also written about us and the upcoming show as well, which you can find here. Mountain Xpress, here, and Citizen-Times, here. We’ve also been interviewed by the local paper in Uppsala, but when I’m typing this, it hasn’t been published yet (if it will?!).

So, I believe that’s it for now. I’ll post, once the episode has been aired,  a bunch of behind-the-scenes pictures, a little more info, and videos. It will probably end up being several parts because we have so much fun material to share with you! What a crazy and amazing adventure this has been and still is!

Almost a month

Me

Crazy. It’s been a while since I last posted something here on the blog. Oh, well. My life has been pretty intense, but not, at the same time. To be honest, it’s been pretty tough lately, but I keep fighting, trying to follow what the professionals and Liz are telling me to do. However, there are some struggles that are really hard right now, and it’s not really helping that day treatment is closed for about two weeks!! I understand the professionals need some time off too when the holiday is kicking in, but this is also a really tough period when having an eating disorder…

Friday was the last day for some of the girls at treatment as well, so it was really sad to say goodbye to them, and also to say goodbye to the girls who I’ll not see on a daily basis for a few weeks, like the past months. You get so used to the everyday schedule at the hospital with amazing people around you, and then suddenly, you don’t have them around you. I miss my heroes. Because that’s what they are, the other girls (well the professionals too), but gaaaah, I feel so much for the other patients. Ok, enough with that talk..I’m getting really emotional now.

Liz and I had some cozy time here at home with my brother, his wife, my cousin, her boyfriend, and my extra big brother (my real brother’s best friend). We drank Glögg (mulled wine which is a major Swedish holiday drink), ate some snacks, chatted, and played a quiz that Liz and I had put together earlier in the day. So much fun! We filmed some during the day so lets check it out instead of me trying to describe it.

Here we go! (for better quality, check out the video directly on my channel on Vimeo → here)

Such a Music Genius

Laleh ♥

She performed at the gala for collecting money for all refugees, called “Hela Sverige Skramlar”, that was shown on TV this past week. She ended the show by singing, a capella, for a full arena. Magical.

Beach Weeks

September 21, 2015

Liz’s family has a tradition of spending a week together at the beach in North Carolina. I’ve been lucky to be a part of this tradition for some years now, and I love every single minute of it. 2014, I filmed a little bit, and forgot about the film snippets, until today. So I decided to put it all together and show you all what it looks like when the Reynolds family clan gets together. It’s usually filled with laughter, beach days, restaurant visits (some years we’ve created lists of our favorite restaurants and then get to vote on a few, and the winning restaurants are the ones we’re visiting during the week – a really serious voting system organized by Liz’s aunt), boat rides, grilling out evenings, fireworks on the beach, long chats in the evenings, wine/beer – but only after 12 o’clock (it’s 5 o’clock somewhere…hehe), and just a lot of quality time together. I love it so so so much.

Enjoy 5 minutes and 13 seconds of family beach stuff fun!

Longboard Love

September 17, 2015

My longboard is here!

I wrote not too long ago about my new hobby, longboarding, here on the blog. I ordered it online (from nordboards – a skating store in California, through Amazon) on Saturday Sept. 5, and 1.5 week later, it’s here in Sweden with me. That’s pretty awesome. I was gonna order it through a Swedish store first, but they didn’t have it in, so it was gonna take them around 6 weeks to get it and it was gonna cost way more as well…So ordering it myself directly, worked out way better for me! Since I picked it up last night, I haven’t been able to really test it out (more than rolling around in the apartment a tiny bit..hehe), but I’m dying to test it out.

Made a short little video when I picked it up at the post office. Check it out here below, if you’d like to.

December 30, 2014

Let’s check out, through some questions and answers, what 2014 was like!

new-years

What did you do in 2014 that you’d never done before?
The majority of the things I did for the first time, were school related. Figure drawings. And I used a drawing pad on a regular basis. Modeled digital in 3D, and animated movies (3D and 2D). 2014 was a year full of school challenges where I faced and found myself in situations I wasn’t too familiar with, but that taught me a lot. I also visited Disney World in Florida and spent my 30th birthday in New York with Liz, my brother, and my cousin. Saw the musical Les Miserables on Broadway! Was my sister’s bridesmaid and jumped into a jam session here in Asheville.

wedding

Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t really make any. I will make some for 2015, but keep them for myself at the moment.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. Several friends ♥.

Did anyone close to you die?
No.

What countries did you visit?
Sweden and the States – not really an exciting year of travels (to different countries)…Guess this past year was just a regular everyday life-kind-of-year…but you gotta have those too, I guess.

sweden_mohippa

What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
Way more traveling to several different countries. I guess living in Europe will help a whole lot with that. We already have thoughts of going to France, Ireland, England, Germany, and the States (since we’ll be living in Sweden from January).

What days from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Disney World in the beginning of 2014, it was an amazing trip. Our trip to NYC in May, the beach week with Liz’s family – loved it! My sister’s wedding, and when we decided to move back to Sweden.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
To learn so much at the University here in the States and to get such good grades.

school_work

What was your biggest failure?
To not exercise. I have to get into that routine in order to get stronger and more fit.

Did you suffer illness or injury?
No colds or such, but a lot of stomach aches :/

What was the best thing(s) you bought?
The trips we took (Florida, NYC, and Sweden). We scored to be in Sweden when the weather was fantastic! Warm, sunny, and just gorgeous.

sweden_summer

Whose behavior merited celebration?
Mine! First year in forever, I didn’t have to spend a lot of time in the hospital! Go me.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Not gonna mention it here, but some sure made me upset. Not as much to make me depressed though.

Where did most of your money go?
Just regular life and probably the trips.

What are you really, really, really excited about?
To start working again! I’m also really stoked about being close to my friends and family in Sweden again.

Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier. Ups and downs – like everybody, I guess, but in general, more happy.
b) bigger or smaller? Don’t know. Probably bigger, but trying to not care…
c) richer or poorer? Poorer. Spent so much money on education and trips. Hehe.

Walked all over the city, drank drinks, watched the musical Les Miserables, and ate yummy food. It was pretty much perfect.

To not focus on some negative stuff that I couldn’t really change anyway.

LISTEN

November 24, 2014

I was going on YouTube to check out some short informative movie clips about Graphic Design History (studying for my upcoming final exam in that class). But, when I got on the website, other videos related to earlier visits, showed up…Among them, a bunch of Beyoncé clips, since I love her music and her live performances are amazing, which I clearly had looked at on YouTube before. One song that showed up was, Listen. Ok, getting really personal now, but thought I wanted to share it with you all.

I have met quite many people in my life that are intimidated by me… I don’t really know why, but perhaps they think I have my life all put together and have had it like that all along. I haven’t and I don’t. There have been many years of a lot of sickness in my life. Anorexia, which some of you already might now about. Anyway, I’ve spent months in the hospital to recover (now why this is related to today’s YouTube visit)..and the song Listen was one of the songs in my playlist, I listened to all the time while laying in bed at the hospital. In the midst of all the sickness, there was a tiny bit of hope, and I found some strength within this song.

Listen

Listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start but can’t complete
Listen to the sound from deep within
It’s only beginning
To find release

Oh,
The time has come
For my dreams to be heard
They will not be pushed aside and turned
Into your own
All cause you won’t
Listen…

Listen,
I am alone at a crossroads
I’m not at home in my own home
And I’ve tried and tried
To say what’s on my mind
You should have known
Oh,
Now I’m done believing you
You don’t know what I’m feeling
I’m more than what you made of me
I followed the voice you gave to me
But now I gotta find my own.

You should have listened
There is someone here inside
Someone I thought had died
So long ago

Oh I’m screaming out, and my dreams will be heard
They will not be pushed aside or worked
Into your own
All cause you won’t
Listen…

I don’t know where I belong
But I’ll be moving on
If you don’t…
If you won’t…

…listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I’ve started but I will complete
Oh,
Now I’m done believing you
You don’t know what I’m feeling
I’m more than what you’ve made of me
I followed the voice you think you gave to me
But now I gotta find my own,
My own.

After being so sick, I am still recovering as of today, because it is a long process. And while I’m not underweight anymore, I still need to deal with sick thoughts e v e r y d a y. The difference now is that I’m not letting them take over my life. But laying down at the hospital bed, trying to figure out who I was, and leave the sickness behind, was tough. Today, I’m still trying to figure out who I am, without the sickness, and to find my place in the world, and mostly important, within myself. It’s, of course, an ongoing process, not only for someone who’s been sick, but for everyone, and a continuous exploring throughout our lives. I thought I’d share this little story, this song with you, because not only do I need to probably hear these words, but perhaps you do too.

Here’s the video of Beyoncé singing the song live, and the exact video I happened to stumble  upon  on YouTube today that reminded me of my life process and progress.

Hope you’re having a great Monday!
