December 12, 2014

Last Monday, Liz and I headed to Waynesville, a town located about 30 min from Asheville. It was time for the 2014 Christmas Parade there. But we started off with some amazing coffee drinks at our favorite cafe, Panacea first. Let’s check it out!

Welcome to the new look in here, I hope you’re liking it! I still have a few minor things to fix, but the general design is done! Yay!

Redesigning this website is taking way longer than I first thought. Please, be patient and check back here soon again!

November 23, 2014

I have had a website or a blog for ten years as of 2014! So I was thinking of looking back at some of the designs I had then..and some years ahead.

2004 – 2005

I was coding everything from scratch and used one of my good friend’s server to upload the website. My hostname was free (.tk), and my nickname on the Internet back then was, Cuerda which means rope/string in Spanish. But the Swedish name Lina also means rope or string in Swedish. Got it? A little bit too long of a stretch, but whatever. I liked it. I moved to Uppsala in fall of 2004, studied music at the University, shared an apartment with a friend, sang in a choir every week, spent all my time at school – did music stuff, and/or hung out with friends. The year after, 2005, I worked in Uppsala and shared a tiny, tiny student room in a dorm with another friend. Good times and good memories.

2006 – 2008

I moved to a tiny tiny town, called Mariannelund, located in the county Småland in Sweden, and studied Social Work at a boarding school there. Since I wasn’t in Uppsala anymore, my friend (who had the server I used) and I didn’t have those geeky coding sessions together when we worked on our computer stuff, so I moved over to instead. I still used my nickname Cuerda, and you can actually still find and read my blog. Check it out → here. It wasn’t that much to do with the design there, more than the color schemes, the profile picture, and the background. I used this blog between August 2006 and December 2008. I met Liz in the summer of 2007, and had left the boarding school to study Social Work as my major at the Mid Sweden University.

2008 – 2010

I missed designing websites, so I started a blog account on and chose to leave my old nickname Cuerda. I now called my blogg lmve which stood for the first letters in all my names. You can actually still find this old blog → here. I did an internship in Denmark and started going back and forth to the States quite a lot. Liz and I were, and are, so in love. It was during this blog major changes happened toward the end. I participated in a → blog competition in my hometown, and won! You can read about my winning post (in Swedish since I had to write in Swedish for the competition) → here, and → here (when I found out that I had won – in English). Anyway, I won my own domain name, space on the Internet, and a private website/blog workshop. Therefore, I changed from to where I am now. Lier is based on the first two letters in my first and last name – Lina Eriksson. It’s also what I’m using all over the Internet as my nickname whenever it’s possible. See links at the end of this post.

Liz and I decided to share webspace in the summer of 2010 to celebrate Liz moving to Sweden. I began by creating a first page, and then linking it to our separate blogs. So below, you can see our first page, and then our separate blogs as well.

2011 – 2013

We didn’t keep our first page with links to our separate blogs for a long time…can’t recall the reason why we stopped. I changed to use only and that’s where we are now. I’ve had a few blog designs since 2011, and the ones below are just a few of them.  blogdesign10-12

Since I started the University here in Asheville, North Carolina USA and studied New Media with a concentration in Interactive Media and Web Art/Design, I’ve also added a portfolio to my website, and therefore it has a first page where you then click to either my blog and portfolio etc. As I’m writing this, my website looks like this.

My blog looks like this (as you can see..hehe)

Can’t believe it’s been ten years now..if you would like to follow me on other places as well, you can find me here ↓

Since I’m soon not gonna be a student anymore, I’m planning on releasing a new design within the next weeks – still the same address. Just a little tease 🙂

Spring Break 2014

March 14, 2014

As you can see, I have changed a whole lot here. I like it, and I hope you do too. Since I’m working on building up a professional portfolio, I thought it was time to really fix one online. I’m just in the beginning of my education, so there isn’t a whole lot yet, but it will hopefully grow pretty fast.

Other than changing and working on the blog/website, I’m on spring break! Or more toward the end of the break now. Can’t believe I’m half way through the semester. The break has been good, and we have had our first European guests here! Our friends from Berlin spent some days with us, and we showed them around Asheville and the surroundings. We also had some amazing weather – sunny and above 20 degrees Celsius (which two days later turned into negative degrees and snow on the ground…). That’s how the weather rolls here in North Carolina.

Gonna spend the rest of the weekend preparing for school to start again. I have a lot coming up – exams, quizzes, projects, and homework to do, and I want do be a little bit ahead of everything. However, it feels pretty good to just be home. Gotta fill myself with energy for the last weeks in school for this semester.

Glimpses from the past few days through the phone:

Walk, one of our favorite pubs/restaurants.

Live music downtown and a Sunday brunch.

Local beer, of course!

Happy February First!

February 1, 2014

It looks a little bit different here on the blog nowadays. I wanted a change and I hope you like it. Still working on some things, though, but will hopefully be done with the new design pretty soon.

I ended the last week of January with a couple of snow days (schools close due to snow), my first ones ever! I enjoyed it! Since it’s not as common with snow here in southern part of the States, we don’t have the equipment to clear the roads, and make it safe to drive on, hence the “snow days”  It’s a safety thing. It has also been freezing cold here (minus -18C/1F). So I spent last Tuesday and Wednesday at home, being all cozy, “netflixed”, ate yummy homemade chili my love cooked, and studied some as well. I went back to school Thursday and Friday so it was a really short school week, the last days of January.

Today, Liz and I are going to do some shopping (if I can find the shoes I want..), then ride and see where we’re ending up, pretty much. The sun is shining and it’s going to be around 13 C/55F today – nice! I love the North Carolinia winters with snow days and then warmer weather, plus the winter season isn’t as long as in Sweden. Perfect, in my world.

Some pictures Liz took during my snow days! It snowed the whole Wednesday and Thursday was really sunny but cold, and all the roads were icy.

snow7Ok, it’s time to get ready for some Saturday adventures!

Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Throwback Thursday

April 4, 2013

Let’s check back what I did, in the beginning of April, in 2012, 2011, 2010, and 2009.

I had just been to Gothenburg with Liz where we visited our friend, drank Starbucks, and did some shopping in the cozy area named Haga. We rode the train back to Norrköping. I cheered the SoundHound app and wrote about different artists (for example: Irma, Caro Emerald, and Frida Amundsen) I’d found through the app. Felt pretty deep and wrote about that life is about finding the balance between black and white, and yet not living in the gray. I was getting pretty bad here and just a few weeks later I ended up in the hospital for some months; but before that, I celebrated Easter at my parents’ place together with some relatives.

I had just start working within the social work branch and I remember this time as pretty intense since it was so much to learn and things to get into. But I loved it! As I wrote about yesterday, I started blogging at and I also enjoyed the sun shining into our apartment, but most of all, I was longing for the beach in North Carolina where we were going in the summer.

It was a really intense spring when I was finishing school. Liz and I had gotten married just four months earlier (December 2009) and were now physically separated since I had to finish school, and Liz was finishing up her job in the States, before she moved to Sweden. She came to Sweden for about a week in the beginning of April, and I felt whole again. All I did was studying, finishing my final paper, and missing Liz.

I was doing one semester of my education online so I could be where ever in the world a.k.a The States. Hehe. I was home alone during the days, studying, and in the afternoons/evenings, Liz and I went on adventures in the Asheville area. Love that city, and I’m so excited to be moving back there for many years! I was also counting down the days until our road trip to Florida and The Keys, which was one of the things on my bucket list.

Five years back in time, filled with so many memories. Can’t wait to see what five years ahead will bring!

Two years on!

April 3, 2013

Liz celebrated her blog turning two years just two days ago, and today, I realized that is turning two years today!

Happy Birthday,!

blog design #11 january

January 17, 2013

As a kid, when I had just learned to write and spell my name, I always wrote my name everywhere. It could be repeatedly in my siblings’ books, on the wall (my parents were not happy with me then!), and multiple other places. Since I got a drawing pad for Christmas, I thought it could be fun to re-live my signature writing at early age, so I rewrote it like it looked like back then. That’s my theme on the blog for now. Liz took a picture of me the other day, when I was sitting on the bed, drinking coffee, and worked on my computer some. That picture has become my new blog “profile” picture. So here it is; blog design #11 January 2013.
