The top 9 posts on Instagram 2016

December 31, 2016

Starting from the bottom right!

9. Me at the beach in South Portland, Maine, USA.
I had this picture taken the other day and it made it to the top nine list, pretty cool! A day when Liz and I decided for a little photo session since the sunset was so nice.

Ocean love. An open sea feels like an open book, with endless possibilities, a connection to the world, and uniting love. The fresh air, the beautiful view, and the horizon touching both earth and sky. Love it.

8. Me with the New York City skyline.
This past summer when Liz and I spent a couple of days in NYC, we stayed at an awesome airbnb apartment in Williamsburg, and explored new areas in NY.

I freaking love NYC ❤️

7. Me sitting on the floor in our living room.
I decided to film my reaction of playing the classic Nintendo I just had gotten.

6. Phone with our podcast playing.
We took a picture of a phone on the desk, playing our latest podcast episode.

It’s podcast day + Episode 14 of the LIZ + LINA podcast is ready!! This week we’re highlighting some of our most memorable moments of the past year… tune in to hear about some of our experiences + what word we decide to use to describe 2016! // Find us on iTunes podcasts, Soundcloud and Acast!! // Link in profile!

5. Podcast and a heart made of tea lights.
We created a heart made out of tea lights in the honor of our friend who had passed away the day before we recorded the podcast. The episode was a tribute to him.

We’ve created a special LIZ+LINA podcast for Episode 10 this week – where we process some of the tough things in life and how life just isn’t fair. Tune in + pass it on // Find us on iTunes podcasts, Soundcloud and Acast!! // Link in profile!

4. Williamsburg bridge.
Again, a pic from this past summer when we walked around in Williamsburg and realized how beautiful the sky/sunset was, so we just had to capture it on camera as well.

From last night ??

3. Liz and I outside the City Hall in Norrköping.

On our 7th wedding anniversary, I posted a picture from when just just had gotten married, back in 2009.

We’ve been married 7 years today and we’re still going strong! Gaaah, I love her so much ❤ ((The picture above is taken on December 26th, 2009, right after we’d said yes ?))

2. Me drinking coffee
We were at the airport, heading to the States for 4 week vacation during summer. I needed coffee, and bought some ridiculous expensive AND crappy tasting coffee. However, I was happy about going to the States.

Just bought an expensive and disgusting coffee at the airport… ? But hey, I’m excited and happy anyway because we’re about to board our plane to NYC! ??✈️

1. Liz and I at Rockefeller Center
Again, we’re in NYC, but this time during the holiday season and we got to see all the Christmas lights, tree, skating rink, etc. It felt like I was in an American holiday movie. Checked one of the things off  of my bucket list: to experience NYC during Christmas time.

New York, together with my amazing wife ❤

Three things I like right now

May 15, 2016

To get inspired and feel inspiration grow from deep inside of me. People, places, nature, cities, happenings, series, music everything is inspiring me, and I love it!

To spend time with friends and family where playing old records is a no brainer. How much do you love this record player…gaaaaah.

To drink coffee out of our newly bought mugs from House Doctor. Could buy so much from there and other design brands such as Bloomingville, HAY, and Muuto.

A chilly Saturday

November 21, 2015

Morning coffee

Good morning!

This is how I started off this chilly Saturday – a yummy cup of coffee. It’s beautiful out today so Liz and I might go out a little bit later on – most likely downtown. I’m not really allowed to walk around a lot, but to go downtown, for a challenge, is ok. But we’ll see. It’s the plan, but it also has to feel ok so it won’t turn in to a “fall back” or that I compensate it in any way.

However, the morning has been cozy, and I’m about to get into the new puzzle I bought and started the other day. We’re also gonna inventory our Christmas box in the basement that we brought with us when we moved from the States to see what we need (read: we most likely need Swedish electric chords for our stars that we’re gonna hang in our windows next weekend).

In this household, it’s really important to celebrate Thanksgiving before any Christmas stuff hangs up or anything is being decorated in the apartment. I actually really like that tradition and I also grew up with pretty much no decoration before First of Advent. The same goes with Christmas music. Nothing is being played until the end of next week (Thanksgiving is next Thursday, but we’re gonna celebrate it next Friday since it’s not a holiday here, and the family we’ve invited to Thanksgiving dinner work Thursday and Friday). So in a week from now, Liz and I will be in full force decorating our home. Fun and exciting. I’ll probably do another post about the decoration theme we’ve decided to go with this year. Yes, we’re that into this, with a Christmas-based decorating theme. A hint though is that this year will be minimalistic, clean, Nordic, and white. Love it!

Ok, time to move on with the puzzle and then after lunch, head out for some challenges. Hope you’re having a good Saturday! ♥

Saturday morning

September 12, 2015

Instagram Picture taken about a week ago.

Good morning!

I’m sitting here on the bed, drinking coffee, and Liz is sitting beside checking youtube clips of various American shows/interviews. Love hearing the American accent and watching the familiar shows, and faces that used to be our everyday, regular life, earlier, but are not anymore. Ok, side story.

Back to my coffee and the fact that it’s Saturday morning. I’m really excited about this day since a dear friend is coming to town and will stay until tomorrow! I need some time with her, a girl, who can understand me in such a different way than others can ♥. I love that we’ve kept contact when I lived in the States, and almost every time we’ve been back in my hometown the past years, we’ve tried to meet up – and we succeeded with that! Oh, dear S, you’re timing of coming here to Uppsala this weekend, is perfect.

It’s also “Culture Night” here in town, which means there’s a lot of cultural (duh) happenings – shows, concerts, exhibitions, longer open hours etc. So we might check some stuff out and grab a beer or something out later on.

Gotta prepare the guest bed and straighten things up here because she’s coming with the train in just a couple of hours! Woo hoo!

Summer Days

August 30, 2015

Liz and I have stayed in Sweden during the summer, which has been really good for us, I think. I/we needed to just be. Here. Try to land a bit after some hectic months in our lives. We love to travel, explore new places and cultures, but this time, it was good to stay home (we also didn’t have a choice since Liz’s passport was at the Immigration Office due to her application to become a Swedish citizen + we have a cat to take care of).

We took a few shorter trips to surrounding areas though. The archipelago and Stockholm a few times. Norrköping a few times, Sigtuna – the oldest city of Sweden which is about an hour from Uppsala, and then stayed in Uppsala some as well. It is amazing nature here in Sweden and there is a great law that gives everyone the right to go wherever. Love it. We also have had a few visitors who have sparkled our lives with their presence. ♥

Let’s check it out – pictures taken with my phone and mostly posted (if not all..hehe), on Instagram. I’m liersees there by the way.

Art on the walls

August 29, 2015

Liz and I bought some new posters this summer while visiting Fotografiska, a photography Museum in Stockholm. They’re from the artist Vee Speers and we finally got them framed in (long story short, one of the frames had scratches on it and we had turn go back and exchange it)! It also took a while to get ourselves into starting the process of hanging them up as well.  Anyway, they’re finally up, hanging above our couch, and we love them!

While we were up hanging stuff on the walls, we decided to rearrange a few things and add some more stuff so printed Instagram pictures, that Liz has taken, are now also hanging on the wall. Yay! They all make such a difference in the feeling of the room now.

January 9, 2015

I don’t know how many blog posts I’ve started in my head, words I have put together to various more or less successful sentences lately, but they have only stayed in my head, and I haven’t been able to put them down here, black on white.

I’m overwhelmed.

It’s been quite here for a little while and there are three simple reasons. First, what I wrote above. Second I’ve been on a little vacation to Washington DC (photos are about to be posted in a few days, ones I’ve edited them some), and third, my parents have been here, and I’ve spent a lot of time with them.

The desk photo above is from yesterday, before I took everything down, and prepared it for the move. A little goodbye to my work area in our studio where I’ve spent many hours doing school stuff…

Liz and I are right now waiting on our movers to come to the apartment to pack and ship some smaller furniture and things we want to keep and take to Sweden. Liz is also taking Zola (our cat) to the vet for a last check up before the flight, and people/friends are coming today to pick up furniture and things they’ve bought from us. Tonight we’re getting little break from everything to enjoy a concert our friends are having, and several friends will be there. FUN. Tomorrow, we’re having a moving out party where more friends are coming over to our place to hang out, drink beer, and listen to live music. Our friends (who are having a concert tonight) are playing at our place tomorrow night and for you who aren’t coming to the party, can simply click here to watch it live. They’re streaming their concert!

We’re moving out of this apartment on Sunday and turning in the keys on Monday, and then we’re having about a week left in Asheville to just hang out with friends and family, drink plenty of good local craft beer, and eat at all our favorite restaurants. We’re staying at Liz’s brother’s house which is located downtown so that’s gonna be awesome to just walk downtown instead of taking the car all the time.

Ok, time to breathe a little bit, drink more coffee out of paper cups, and then perhaps edit some photos from DC.

December 30, 2014

Let’s check out, through some questions and answers, what 2014 was like!

What did you do in 2014 that you’d never done before?
The majority of the things I did for the first time, were school related. Figure drawings. And I used a drawing pad on a regular basis. Modeled digital in 3D, and animated movies (3D and 2D). 2014 was a year full of school challenges where I faced and found myself in situations I wasn’t too familiar with, but that taught me a lot. I also visited Disney World in Florida and spent my 30th birthday in New York with Liz, my brother, and my cousin. Saw the musical Les Miserables on Broadway! Was my sister’s bridesmaid and jumped into a jam session here in Asheville.

Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t really make any. I will make some for 2015, but keep them for myself at the moment.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. Several friends ♥.

Did anyone close to you die?

What countries did you visit?
Sweden and the States – not really an exciting year of travels (to different countries)…Guess this past year was just a regular everyday life-kind-of-year…but you gotta have those too, I guess.

What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
Way more traveling to several different countries. I guess living in Europe will help a whole lot with that. We already have thoughts of going to France, Ireland, England, Germany, and the States (since we’ll be living in Sweden from January).

What days from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Disney World in the beginning of 2014, it was an amazing trip. Our trip to NYC in May, the beach week with Liz’s family – loved it! My sister’s wedding, and when we decided to move back to Sweden.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
To learn so much at the University here in the States and to get such good grades.

What was your biggest failure?
To not exercise. I have to get into that routine in order to get stronger and more fit.

Did you suffer illness or injury?
No colds or such, but a lot of stomach aches :/

What was the best thing(s) you bought?
The trips we took (Florida, NYC, and Sweden). We scored to be in Sweden when the weather was fantastic! Warm, sunny, and just gorgeous.

Whose behavior merited celebration?
Mine! First year in forever, I didn’t have to spend a lot of time in the hospital! Go me.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Not gonna mention it here, but some sure made me upset. Not as much to make me depressed though.

Where did most of your money go?
Just regular life and probably the trips.

What are you really, really, really excited about?
To start working again! I’m also really stoked about being close to my friends and family in Sweden again.

What song will always remind you of 2014?
» Sarah Jarosz’s version of Bob Dylan’s Simple Twist of Fate
» Håkan Hellström’s Valborg, Du är snart där, and Pistol
» Damien Rice’s My Favourite Faded Fantasy and I Don’t Want to Change You
» Rodriguez’s Sugar Man
» First Aid Kit’s Silver Lining, Emmylou, Stay Gold, and Cedar Lane
» Tomas Andersson Wij’s En gång till ska gatorna ropa
» Weeping Willows’s album The Time Has Come
» Sleeping At Last’s album Atlas: Year One
» Random songs by Nickel Creek and the Avett Brothers

Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier. Ups and downs – like everybody, I guess, but in general, more happy.
b) bigger or smaller? Don’t know. Probably bigger, but trying to not care…
c) richer or poorer? Poorer. Spent so much money on education and trips. Hehe.

What do you wish you’d done more of?
Talked more with friends in Sweden.

What do you wish you’d done less of?
Worrying and stressing about various things. Everything. Will. Be. Fine.

How did you be spend Christmas?
Together with my parents, who are visiting from Sweden, and Liz’s parents and brother here in Western North Carolina. Christmas Eve with some Swedish traditions, and Christmas Day with the American traditions. A lot of food, a lot of great conversations, and a lot of Christmas gifts.

What was your favorite month of 2014?
May, July, and December.

Did you fall in love in 2014?
I’m in love with Liz, my wife ♥.

What was your favorite TV program?
Kelly & Michael (a morning TV-show here in the States)

Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I don’t do the hating.

What was the best book you read?
Didn’t read that much (except school stuff), but the ones I read were good, but sad.
» I kroppen min : resan mot livets slut och alltings början by Kristian Gidlund
» I kroppen min: vägsjäl by Kristian Gidlund

What was the best serie(s) you watched?
The Walking Dead and The Fosters.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
Most of the artists I mentioned in an earlier question above ↑.

What did you want and get?
Several Swedish/international friends and family members who came and visited us! So. Much. Fun.

What did you want and not get?
Some Swedish/international friends who couldn’t make it this year to the States.

What was your favorite film of this year?
I really enjoyed Wild that recently came out in the movies here in the States.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 30 this year and Liz and I flew up to New York City, stayed in a really great apartment in Alphabet City in Manhattan, met up with my brother and one of my cousins who had flown over to the States, from Sweden! Walked all over the city, drank drinks, watched the musical Les Miserables, and ate yummy food. It was pretty much perfect.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
To not focus on some negative stuff that I couldn’t really change anyway.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
Jeans shorts or black shorts when it’s warm. Otherwise jeans and black pants, a tank or a t-shirt, jewelry, and toms. Pretty relaxed and oversized. Hats.

What kept you sane?
Liz and some really close friends.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hmmm. All the live bands we saw in 2014. Nickel Creek, First Aid Kit X2, The Avett Brothers, Motopony, and The Wilhelm Brothers. Fantastic musicians!

What political issue stirred you the most?
SD (Swedish Democrats a.k.a racist party) who got to be part of the Swedish Government. SCARY and ok (now I’m gonna hate some..), I hate it.

Who did you miss?
So many friends and family…♥

Who was the best new person you met?
The new friends we have/have had here in Asheville ♥

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014
Don’t waste your energy on some people who you’ll never get energy from.

December 23, 2014

Today, we (mom, dad, and I) relaxed and listened to music at home while Liz was working some.

We also opened up a Swedish chocolate box, and I gladly ate a bunch of pralines while we were having fika.

Once Liz was done, we all headed to the Grove Park Inn, a luxury hotel that opened in 1913, where plenty of celeberties have stayed when visiting Asheville, where they have a National Gingerbread House Competition. The rule is for everything to be edible. Pretty amazing, I think. (The Santa has hair..just the crappy light outside that makes it look like he hasn’t. Hmpf.) We also checked out the Christmas lights on the beautiful houses/neighborhood of Montford, and ate a yummy, early dinner in West Asheville at one of our favorite restaurants – Walk.

tuesday9We ended the day with hot cider in front of a Christmas movie.
