THREE LATELY

December 3, 2014

school1Tuesday evening I had my final exam time for my evening class – Introduction to Motion Media. Since we had animated short movies, we brought a bunch of snacks to class, and watched all the animations while snacking. This is what the snack table looked like. My classmates laughed at me when I was taking this picture and loudly said that it was soooo American. Oreos, Goldfish, chips, soda…and so on.

school2Today, I had my second final exam time in my New Media Art and Design class. We presented our final projects we’ve been working on for a few weeks, and after about 2.5 hours we were done, and I headed home to…

school3…this. I have my final exam in History of Design tomorrow. So much to memorize..and I’m so bad with names on a daily basis, and now I have to remember almost 70 names of different designers/artists, and who belong to different time periods, styles plus all the facts about the various styles. I’m overwhelmed. BUT at this time tomorrow, or actually a few hours earlier (like 5.30-ish, hopefully earlier), I’m done.

SUNDAY AT HOME

November 30, 2014

Just been at home today, studied for my final exams, baked an apple pie and fixed hot chocolate for the girls (Liz and Paige), listened to Christmas Music and have had Christmas movies on TV. A pretty relaxed and cozy day. I’m finishing up my review pages now, and then I’m heading to bed, I believe. Tomorrow is a study/reading day, and finals start on Tuesday! The end of my school time is so close now…

SWEDISH AND AMERICAN TRADITIONS

November 26, 2014

My beloved niece FaceTimed us today, and she was baking gingerbread cookies together with my mom, my sister, and her nice’s three siblings. Since we were FaceTiming, we got to be part of the Swedish traditions as well. Gotta love technology.

Liz has been cooking Thanksgiving food like crazy here today, and it has smelled delicious! I’ve gotten to taste some too. YUM. Can’t wait to eat all the yummy food tomorrow. Thanksgiving food is on my top list of Holiday foods. I love it. I don’t eat the turkey since I’m vegetarian, but everything else. Our friend, J, has spent the afternoon with us and it has been cozy times with a lot of good conversations. Tomorrow, we’re heading over to Liz’s parents’ place in morning, and will spend a cozy day there. Once Thanksgivng is over, it’s time to decorate for Christmas, so prepare for a lot of Holiday pictures on the blog in the near future.

THE WILHELM BROTHERS @ FRENCH BROAD BREWERY

November 21, 2014

Last night we headed over to → French Broad Brewery and listened to → the Wilhelm Brothers who played there. This band is made up of Chris and Cristof, a guitar player and a cello player, who not only play, but share their souls with you as you listen. They sing and play with such amazing feeling/emotion and express such pure happiness so that the only thing you do is to smile from the inside out. I love it. Their style is, as they describe it, is Folk Rock with Cello Infusion. The best thing is that I’m fortunate enough to have gotten to know these guys, so when we heard they were back in town from their two week long tour in the northeast US, we of course headed over to the brewery wheere they were playing last night.

thursday2It was actually the first time I was at this brewery, which is funny since I do have a favorite beer (Kolsch) from here that I always order when I’m out eating (and not eating at another brewery). We talked a lot with the girl who worked there last night and she told us it’s only $2.5 pints on Mondays, so I guess we’re heading back there then to experience it some more and drink cheap beer!

thursday3Liz is talking to our friend, Andrea, who also married to the guitar player, Chris, in the band. Oh, she’s a Multimedia Artist and has her own studio in the → River Arts District here in Asheville, called, → Studio A. She designs, lamp shades, prints/cards in collaboration with her mom, and Ukrainian Pysanky Eggs. She has an etsy shop up and running now → AshevilleStudioA on Etsy

thursday4We decided to head over to Rosetta’s Kitchen after the show to eat a delicious dinner. Rosetta’s Kitchen is all about vegetarian/vegan food. Sooooo good!!!

thursday5They also have various local artists’ work on their walls, which is for sale. I love that concept.

thursday6Me, Liz, Andrea, and Chris.

thursday7It was such a great night and I just love to be surrounded by positive energy people, artists, and creative people and friends in general. Such an inspiration in life, and I’m so blessed to have gotten to know amazing people here. Yes, I’m having an emotional moment right now. More about that in another post…

Ps. If you would like to listen to the Wilhelm Brothers, you can check them out on Spotify. Just follow the links below.

YUMMY HALLOUMI BURGERS

November 18, 2014

Liz and I fixed really good halloumi burgers last night. We totally haven’t seen any halloumi cheese anywhere here in the States, but yesterday afternoon, Liz texted me and told me we were having a fantastic dinner. Curious as I am, I begged her to tell me what her plan was so I could be excited the rest of the day too. She told me, and I was totally freaking out, since I’ve been missing halloumi cheese like crazy – such a perfect cheese to have in salads, sandwiches, and also make a veggie burger out of. We read a blog post from Julia, about her halloumi burger, so credit to her for such good food inspiration!

burger

We used:
cherry tomatoes
avocado
lettuce
red onion
halloumi cheese
fresh baked buns
mayonnaise
mustard & ketchup

We also peeled potatoes, cut them into fries form, put them on a oven pan, drizzled fresh garlic, olive oil, salt, and pepper. We finalized this delicious dinner with drinking Highland Brewery’s Winter Ale – Cold Mountain. YUM.

Of course, it was dark outside, so the light inside wasn’t optimal, hence the bad quality. Oh, well. If you happen to not know what to make for dinner tonight, this is a really good tip!

CHAI LATTE

September 8, 2014

Liz made me super yummy chai latte so if you happen to pass by Target (if you’re in the States), a tip is to buy their chai latte mix, where you just need to add some milk. She also added some whipped cream and cinnamon, which made it just perfect. So here I’m sitting, sipping my latte, and I’m about to do some homework. I also premiered today wearing long pants! Haven’t worn long pants in weeks or months. However, it was still around 25 degrees celcius out, but that’s at least cooler than 30 something. Hope you’re having a great start of the week!

Let’s check out what I’ve done lately!

1

One day I decided to make fresh pasta.
It’s so easy, and doesn’t take too long to do.

2

3

Mushrooms fried in olive oil, a little butter, garlic, and salt & pepper. Pasta boiled in olive oil and salt. I mixed everything, added some truffle oil, fresh basil, and parmesan cheese on top. Yum.

4

You can find Swedish style “filmjölk” here in Asheville, and I’m so excited.

5

We bought plenty of strawberries the other day. Have I told you I love them?! Like truly love them.

6

One evening, Liz and I played games on the balcony.

7

Another strawberry shot.

8

We hung out at the Wedge one afternoon too.

9

Love the yard.

10

Yep, that’s us. Liz and I. Gosh, love this girl so freaking much ♥

The best part…

11

Paige, a dear friend, has moved to Asheville, from Missouri!!! We celebrated her arrival and move with some champagne last night. Paige and Liz have been blog buddies for a while and we all met each other for the first time about 5 months ago. She fell in love with Asheville, and we all became really good friends, and now she lives here. She’s also gonna tag along on our monthly trip to Sweden! HOW FUN!  Check out her travel blog here. She has also started a new blog about her life in Asheville, which you can check out here.

This pictures is just a couple of hours old and it’s where we’re hanging out right now; at Biscuit Head in West Asheville.

13Pretty much what it looks like right now…updating blogs and other important things!

Day 4: my brother and cousin’s visit

June 7, 2014

Day four we took a little road trip to Marshall, a little town, outside Asheville. We walked around a little, ate lunch, drank coffee, and later on headed back to Asheville and Highland Brewery. The evening ended at Universal Joint in West Asheville for dinner together with Liz’s brother, and another friend of ours.

Days 2 & 3: my brother and cousin’s visit

June 6, 2014

The second and third days my brother and cousin were here we mostly spent time downtown and visited several breweries, so our trip ended up being a pub crawl. Then we grilled out, and just enjoyed spending time with each other. Loved having them here! ♥
